Number 24
Shadows Fall
Kaki King
White Rabbits
Booker T
Kaki King
Shadows Fall
Those Darlins
Merle Haggard
scheduled to perform from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. on
Sunday at This Tent
Rationale: I really don’t listen to much Merle Haggard. Sometimes I really enjoy his music (“Kern River”) and sometimes his music irritates the shit out of me. I own many records of his which I inherited from Mom (and were probably left-overs from my father, who spent far more time incarcerated than Merle did). I do enjoy his song “I Wish I Was Santa Claus.” I enjoy cover versions of “Mama Tried” by Grateful Dead and others. I like the idea of Merle Haggard. The Pilgrim: Chapter 32 is very excited to watch him perform. I’ll probably catch some or all of the end of Merle’s set after Andrew Bird’s set ends at 5:45, but I could see me only catching a song and either drifting over to Snoop Dogg or skipping his set all together. Bob Dylan would be ashamed of me. Or not. So, if Merle weren’t so iconic and if The Pilgrim weren’t so jacked to see him, it’s possible that I wouldn’t watch a note of his set.
